Spelling Bee

Freya (year 6), Jerimiah (year 4), Jake (year 3) and Harry (Year 2) represented their year group in our Dover collaboration spelling bee. The children all did incredibly well, spelling some very tricky words with Jake and Jerimiah winning in their year group.

🚌 IWM, London πŸ’‚

Despite spending slightly longer on the bus than previously planned, the children had a wonderful trip to the Imperial War Museum, London.
After battling through the London morning traffic, we made our way into the museum, where we were met by a very friendly member of staff. The children were lucky enough to meet with two evacuees from WW11, Peter and Ken, who talked to us about their experiences of being evacuated from London during the Blitz. We then continued the rest of the day, exploring all the areas of the museum including: the Spitfires, tanks, walking  through a trench, sitting in an Anderson Shelter and finding out what life was really like during wartime.
I was incredibly proud of all the children and their behaviour. Both museum staff and the visiting evacuees commented on their fantastic questioning and listening skills! Well done class 6 and thank you for a wonderful day πŸ˜Š
A special mention needs to go to Mrs Smith-Watson, who very generously bought the children chips🍟 on the way home, after we had become stuck in traffic on the M2 and our 2 hour journey home turned into over 4!! (Although, I’m not sure the children minded, as they sat watching a movie eating chips!)
Thank you again, to all you wonderful parents, for being so understanding! Mrs. Gardiner πŸ˜Š
